Architecture & Interior Design // Porto
RAFA Design Hub
The atelier in Porto's historic centre
We build less, better. Architecture begins with subtraction — removing until only what is essential remains.
RAFA Design Hub is an architecture and interior design studio founded on the belief that the spaces we inhabit shape how we live, work, and connect. Every project is a dialogue between the built and the natural, the permanent and the ephemeral.
Specification // Principles
The Way We Think
We approach every project as a dialogue between the built and the natural, the permanent and the ephemeral. Our work is rooted in context — the land, the light, the culture, and the people who will occupy the space. We believe in subtraction — the discipline of removing rather than adding — until only what is essential remains.
Context
The land, the light, the climate, the culture — we design from the site outward, never from a style inward.
Materiality
Honest materials age with the building. Wood patinas, stone weathers, and concrete records its making.
Light
Light is the first material. We shape spaces around its movement across the day and the seasons.
Craft
Every junction, joint, and threshold is a decision. Detailing is not the finish of the design — it is the design.
Clarity
A building should be legible at first glance and reveal more with time. Simplicity is complexity resolved.

Working Methods
Model Making
Every project begins as a physical object. Study models are built early and tested by hand — mass, proportion, and light resolved in three dimensions before they are drawn.
Material Research
A material library is assembled for every project — stone, timber, metal, textiles. Samples are selected by hand, on site, in real light.
Design Review
The studio critiques in the open. Weekly reviews at the model table — every decision defended, tested, or revised.
Site & Construction
Architecture is completed on site, not in the office. We supervise construction, test mock-ups, and refine details against real hands and real light.
